This past Sunday evening Mike, Sue, and I went to Missouri Botanical Gardens to view the "Garden Glow". It was a perfect evening with the temperature hovering in the upper 40's. There are a half a million lights featured throughout the garden. It was breathtaking to view all the twinkling and glowing decorations.
With all those lights, I was reminded of how often the reference of lights are mentioned in the Bible. Such as Jesus saying, " I am the light of the world. The person who follows me will never live in darkness but will have the light that gives life." (John 8:12). Also, "every good action and perfect gift is from above, coming from our Father of heavenly lights. God decided to give us life through the Word of truth so we might be the most important of all things He made." (James 1:16,17).
And as followers of Christ, we are to be "light that gives light to the world; live so that others will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven" (Matt 5:12). So, wouldn't it be amazing for all to see our lights shining this holiday season? It would be a magnificent display of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. Give thanks to God that He lights our way!
