God is with you!

One of my favorite Christian music artists is Mandisa.  She's a former American Idol contestant whose talent won her nominations for Grammy and Dove Awards.  Her style of music is upbeat and her lyrics seem to resonate to all ages, genders, and ethnicity.  I thought of her song 'He is with You' when I read the following passage:

"I have taken care of you from your birth.  Even when you are old, I will be the same.  Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you.  I made you and will take care of you.  I will carry you and save you. "  Isaiah 46:3-4 -New Century Version

You can find Mandisa's song on YouTube, or just click here  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CVlv2dz3w

Isn't it wonderful to know that God never changes and He is always with us!  Take a moment to thank Him for that today.

Boast about God!

I get tired of watching "reality TV".  Contestants boast that they are the prettiest of the group, the best chef, the smartest, or can make the most money.  Here's a crazy thought, have a show about who can outboast God.  Oh wait, no one can.

Let not the wise boast of their wisdom, the strong boast of their strength, or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-23

A gift from God!

Very late last night, around 10:00 pm, my oldest nephew and his wife had their first child!  Her name is Caroline Rose.  She is so adorable with pink rose petal lips and dark, full hair.  I am so excited to be a great-aunt!  Congratulations Micah and Lacey!  What a wonderful gift God has given you!

" Don't you see that children are God's best gift?  Oh, how blessed are you parents..."  Psalm 127: 3,5 (the Message)

God gives freedom

Happy 4th of July!  A big thank you to all the men and women who serve our nation in the armed forces!

On this day, we reflect on our legal separation from Great Britain and reminisce the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  We typically eat BBQ, watch fireworks, and listen to patriotic songs like "The Star-Spangled Banner", "God Bless America", and "America the Beautiful".   Did you know that in the fourth verse of our national's anthem it says ," And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'" {that's even on our currency}.  Or can you recall that in "America the Beautiful" it sings three times "God shed His grace on thee".

I find it ironic that these songs mention God, but yet in our schools and courthouses His name is getting removed.  Let's remember our nation in prayer today.

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom"  2 Corinthians 3:17
